FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Make your Actors Experience a special occasion.
Here are answers to commonly asked questions to enhance your visit.

What do I wear?

There is no official dress code for attending. You’ll see a mix of attire from suits to business casual to jeans.

When should I arrive? What if I’m late?

We recommend arriving about 30 minutes prior to curtain time. (Perhaps a bit earlier if you have to claim tickets at the box office.) Allow time to take in a lobby display on the production you are about to see and browse throughout our art gallery, a revolving showcase of local and regional art.

If you are late you will be directed to temporary seating or standing room until intermission. However, there is no late seating in the Victor Jory Theatre due to its intimate size and seating arrangement.

Should you need to leave the theatre during a performance, re-admittance and seating will be at the discretion of the house manager so as not to disturb the audience and actors.

Where do I get my tickets if they weren’t mailed to me?
Pick up prepaid will-call tickets at the box office in the main lobby, just off of the elevators. Claim tickets waiting for payment no later than 30 minutes prior to the start of the performance.

What should I do if I find out I can't make a performance?
Tickets may be exchanged—by phone or in person—into a different performance of the same play with no fees up until 5 p.m. the day of performance or one hour prior to a matinee. Patrons are asked to pay the difference in price if rescheduling into a higher-priced performance.

Is there a place to eat nearby?
Yes! Conveniently located on the lower level of the theatre complex is Intermezzo Cafe & Cabaret. Before the performance enjoy innovative cuisine, personable service and weekend entertainment in the lower level of the building. Allow a minimum of an hour and a half to dine if seeing a play. Reservations recommended: 502-561-3344 (Restaurant) or up to one day prior to reservations at 502-584-1205 (Box Office).

What number should I give my babysitter?
584-1205 will reach the box office until the last curtain time. After that time, 584-1265 will reach a security guard. Both the box office and the guard can access patrons through the House Manager. Please leave your seat location with your sitter.

Can I bring my cellular phone?

Cell phones, pagers and alarm watches should be silenced so as not to disrupt the performance.

Can I take pictures?
Because they create major distractions for actors and audience members, cameras and all other recording devices are prohibited.

May I bring my children to the theatre?
While we offer a wide range of programming, many plays are not appropriate for children. Our annual offering of A Christmas Carol is appropriate for ages 5 and up. The box office can advise you on age appropriateness of other productions. Every child, regardless of age, must have a ticket to enter the theatre. Children under age four are not permitted. If your child proves disruptive or excessively restless, you may be asked to leave.

Do all plays have an intermission?

While it varies from production to production, most plays have at least one 15-minute intermission. At the theatre’s entrance will be an announcement if the play is performed without an intermission. Intermission information is also listed on the title page of your theatre program.

Can I arrange a theatre party at Actors?
Discounts are available for groups of 10 or more. The larger the group, the larger the discount. We can customize a full-service event for your group. Call 502-585-1210.

Do theatres have assisted listening devices?

Yes. Lightweight, wireless headsets are available at the coat check or box office. There is a $10 refundable deposit.

What access services are available?

Accessible ramps, elevators, parking, restrooms, water fountains and wheelchair seating are available. Accessible parking is located on the garage mezzanine level and restrooms are located on the first floor and mezzanine level.

For patrons with low vision, select performances are audio-described. A schedule for this service is available at the box office. Large print programs are also available.

Sign interpretation is offered for select performances by a theatrical interpreter. A schedule for this service is available at the box office. However, patrons must order tickets no later than two weeks prior to the sign-interpreted performance. Sign interpretation is offered only if patrons desiring the service are in attendance.
