South Dakota, was given to 16 playwrights, whose varied responses
to the image (in dramatic form) constitute Snapshot. The photograph
was taken in 1969, and is included in a collection of Friedlander’s
work titled The American Monument (New York: The Eakins Press Foundation,
1976).
