FESTIVAL ACTIVITIES
Programming for the 2009 Humana Festival of New American Plays has been expanded to include more social and enrichment opportunities for patrons, industry professionals and Louisville at large in celebration of American theatre and the community. Below is a listing of all Humana Festival events.

PARTIES AND SPECIAL EVENTS
Some parties and events are part of a special Humana Festial ticket package or require reservations for a performance (see below for more details). Parties and events which are free and open to the public are highlighted in bold.

  • March 5 at 7 p.m. — 33rd Humana Festival of New American Plays Opening Party
       Sample cuisine from local restaurants, peruse memorabilia from Festivals past and enjoy music by Justin & Justin,
       performances by Specific Gravity Ensemble, Voces Novae and Actors Theatre Apprentices.
       Food tastings provided by Intermezzo Cafe, Avalon, Bistro 301, Bravo Cucina Italiana, Mayan Café, Saffrons,
       Varanese, Volare and Z's Fusion.
  • March 12, 6 - 7 p.m. — Cocktails with the Cast at Avalon (1314 Bardstown Rd)

       Mix and mingle with out of town visitors and theatre luminaries during one of our most popular theatre industry weekends.
       Take this chance to explore our historic building, including the Gallery at Actors and lobby displays about the Festival.
       SPECIAL OFFER! Come early on March 28 and purchase The Open House Pass, available only in person at the Box Office
       beginning at 9 a.m. For just $40, you will gain access to any and all of the plays being performed on March 28 through the
       use of extra seat passes. Just show your pass and you will be able to take any available seat at curtain, space permitting.

  • April 4, 10 p.m. — 33rd Humana Festival of New American Plays Gala
       For one magical evening, you can mix and mingle with guests from around the world as press, directors, producers
       and other luminaries of theatre converge upon Louisville to raise a toast to theatre and celebrate the stage!

       Theatre in Louisville: Why Right Now
       A conversation with local theatre artists on the importance of a vibrant local theatre scene. Join a panel of representatives from selected local theatre companies to discuss the challenges and opportunities of producing theatre in Louisville.

    March 24, 7 p.m. Wild Blessings: A Celebration of Wendell Berry
    Enjoy a light reception and then watch a technical rehearsal of the play. See what happens when the actors take the stage for the first time to set lights, costumes and sound. These events are free but ticketed. Call 502-584-1205 for reservations.
