GALLERY AT ACTORS ARCHITECTURE IN PERSPECTIVEAMERICAN SOCIETY OF ARCHITECTURAL ILLUSTRATORS August 27 – September 20, 2009 This year's Exhibition of the American Society of Architectural Illustrators' juried entries presents a selection from the best work in the field of architectural rendering. The artwork displayed represents a diverse body of styles, including both digitally produced and hand-drawn techniques. Architectural illustrations are used to convey a design idea—to inform and inspire a client, benefactor or the public about a concept for a building project that, at the time, only exists in the mind of the designer. Typically produced in the early stages of a project's design, illustrations can run the gamut from photo-realistic representations of the future to emotion-charged sketches that represent the spirit of the final work. This yearLynn’s partnered with Actors Theatre to add a very exciting, new “Leg Lamp” category. WATERCOLOR CONSPIRACY November 3 - 29, 2009 Contemporary art often embodies questions about the nature of art itself: Who is an artist? What is a painting? What is a work of art? Robert Halliday’s Watercolor Conspiracy raises and answers these kinds of questions. One hundred individuals were invited to participate in the making of a painting. Each was allotted a single four-inch square and no one was permitted to see what others before them had painted. The completed work was finally unveiled for all to see at the Swanson Reed Gallery. Persons of all ages participated. The cross-section of painters included novices, serious collectors, gallery owners and professional artists. The finished piece demonstrates that art doesn’t depend on credentials and formalist attributes. Every space embodies a special meaning and together the colors and marks of 100 artists make a beautiful and unusual work of art.
