The New Voices Young Playwrights Festival, sponsored by the LG&E and KU Foundation, celebrates new plays by young writers from our region. This year, we will choose 6 to 8 short plays from the New Voices Contest to produce in the festival, which will take place virtually on Actors Theatre’s online platforms. The winning playwrights work alongside Actors Theatre staff to bring their stories to life.
As part of the play development process, winners participate in two playwriting workshops. Playwrights are also invited to attend the virtual rehearsals for their plays.
The New Voices Young Playwrights Festival is open to middle and high school students, grades 6 through 12, living in Kentucky or the 812 area code of Southern Indiana. Students must be enrolled in the 6th – 12th grade as of October 31, 2020. All young writers are encouraged to submit—you do not need to participate in a New Voices classroom residency to submit your play to the festival.
Sponsored by the LG&E and KU Foundation.
