About the Apprenticeship

Overview

This position is an excellent opportunity for an early professional in event management. This position will assist in the planning, management and implementation of all events and activities surrounding the Humana Festival of New American Plays, as well as assisting coordination of audience development, donor appreciation and celebratory events and rentals in the Theatre’s multiple facilities. This role will also be responsible for planning and executing event strategy for the Professional Training Company season.

An ability to work on multiple tasks in fast-paced and high-pressure situations

Flexibility to respond to the needs of various collaborators and to rapidly changing circumstances and personalities

Excellent written and oral communication skills with strong computer literacy 

Learning Strategies

In collaboration with the Festival and Events Manager, help run all Actors Theatre events and the Humana Festival. Duties include, but are not limited to the following areas:  

Assist in the production of events including but not limited to Tech Events, Opening/Closing Receptions, Community Conversations, Humana Festival activities, and rentals 

Identify, plan and execute event strategy for the Professional Training Company season 

Create and manage project plans, schedules, and deadlines 

Coordinate logistics including marketing, catering, ticketing, operations, FOH, artist participation for events 

Participate in curating the customer experience for the Humana Festival including marketing strategies, printed materials, online guides, event management, guest services and hospitality 

Identify community organizations and events for audience development and build a prominent presence by employing select marketing/audience development strategies

Assist in the coordination and info sharing among various departments/constituents 

Create schedules, roles, training, and motivation for staff and volunteers  

Manage Humana Festival bookstore including the ordering of books, maintain inventory and oversight of setup 

Update and maintain databases 

Manage invoices, execute purchases and maintain a financial tracking system 

Provide excellent customer service through in-person interactions, by phone, and email 

Represent Actors Theatre at public events on and off-site 

Alumni Include

Company managers, marketing associates, event coordinators, arts organizations sales associates, performing arts teachers, and freelance designers

Schedule

This position is weekdays from 9am-5pm. There are significant evening and weekend hours required. These hours are varied based on the performance and event schedule. Outside employment is possible and is most successful with an organization that has a flexible schedule.
