Best for Middle and High School

Through collaboration and innovation, students use the radio play format to develop facility with playwriting and acting. Students will learn the history of one of the earliest forms of popular theatre and use that knowledge to comment on contemporary issues theatrically. The program consists of 5, 50-minute sessions with an Actors Theatre teaching artist, over the course of 5 weeks, incorporating classroom time for writing and rehearsal without the teaching artist present.

FAQs

I want my students to participate in this experience, but my classes are online this semester.

Good news! if you would like to distribute a viewing link to each student in your class, you have the option to book per student. Tickets are $10 per student.

I would like to show a performance to my students in class, how do I go about that?

If you would like to broadcast a performance to your class in a group setting, you have the option to purchase a per classroom option. This option is $250 per classroom.

Will this be appropriate to show younger students?

Each of our performances is given a rating based on how age-appropriate we believe them to be. We recommend i for grades 3+, Dracula: A Radio Play for grades 6+, and Where Did We Sit on the Bus? and Romeo and Juliet: Louisville 2020 for grades 8+.

What is included in a Virtual Field trip?

Along with a link to stream the performance, you will receive a pre-field trip workshop video and a study guide for students and educators.

How do I pay?

Secure payment with a credit card can be made directly at the time of booking. If your school would like to pay by check, please select "Book Now" above and fill out our booking form so we can send you an invoice. Payment must be received in full prior to receiving your virtual links.

How will my students receive their tickets?

If you book the "per student" option, to receive individual links for each student, it will be up to the teacher to distribute tickets to their students. Virtual tickets will be distributed to the email address provided during booking. If you book per student, we will send all individual links to the one email address provided.

In order to ensure that you are receiving your links, consider adding BoxOffice@actorstheatre.org and Info@actorstheatre.org to your contact list. If messages from Actors Theatre are being filtered as Spam, you can add us to your “safe sender” list.

I do not see an email with the tickets.

Make sure that you check your junk folder or folders that sort out promotional emails. If you still can't find it, please email BoxOffice@actorstheatre.org.

Where will the performances be streamed?

PlayPlay is the streaming site that your students will be directed to with their links. If we send you a link that directs to PlayPlay.tv, that is safe to follow and will let you stream a project into which you’ve been ticketed.

Do the videos have captions?

Yes! You will be able to turn captions on using the video player controls in PlayPlay.

Which devices will my students be able to use to stream?

Your students should be able to stream on most devices they own. They can watch video projects on iOS, AppleTV, Android, Roku, Amazon Firestick, and their web browser. For our radio plays, they will be able to listen from their phone, tablet, or computer.

Can I show this on my TV in class?

Yes! The easiest option is to use screen mirroring or AirPlay to play the stream from your phone, laptop or other device to your TV. You might see a slight decrease in quality with this option.

If your TV is smart or has internet capabilities, you can download or open an internet browser and log into your email. From there, you can open the email we sent you and click on your link to stream. If you have trouble streaming on an older TV, you may have better luck switching to an alternate device. You can watch from the comfort of your home on iOS, AppleTV, Android, Roku, Amazon Firestick and your web browser.
