Matthew Dryburgh grew up in North Dakota, where he graduated from North Dakota State University with a B.F.A. in theatre performance with (emphasis in directing). While at NDSU, he directed Paula Vogel’s How I Learned to Drive for their mainstage season. He also worked as an assistant director, devisor and dramaturg on various productions including The Christians, The Odyssey and Peter Pan. In addition to his artistic work, Dryburgh taught several theatre workshops for the university and community during his time in school. In Chicago, he has worked as a teaching artist and director with various theatre companies, as well as Chicago Public Schools.
