In the Lab: A look inside the Dracula process

October 1 at 7 p.m. EDT
This event lasts 60 minutes.

As we build toward reincorporating live, in-person performance in our theatres, we wanted to share a virtual look at the next iteration of Dracula, currently in development in our interdisciplinary laboratory.

Join us for a virtual gathering where we will hear excerpts from Kate Hamill's acclaimed recent adaptation, meet the cast and creative team, and learn about the new production that's in the works for next year's Halloween season.

Can't join us live? All ticket holders will be able to stream the event October 2–5. The video can be found in your Actors Theatre of Louisville account on October 2.

This event will be live captioned.

Dracula

a bit of a feminist revenge fantasy, really
based loosely on the novel by Bram Stoker
by Kate Hamill

directed by Jennifer Pennington
fight and intimacy direction by David Anzuelo
dialect coaching by Joy Lanceta Coronel
stage managed by Katherine Thesing
casting by Emily Tarquin, CSA

In this thrilling new adaptation that bounces between humor and horror, playwright Kate Hamill reimagines Bram Stoker’s vampire classic as full-throated battle cry against toxic masculinity. No damsels in distress, no romanticized villains—just a gleeful stake through the heart of the patriarchy.
